Our apprentices David Gotthardt and Tibor Bielwaski took part in this year’s Schichtwechsel (shift change) event on 22nd September. Initiated in 2019 by the German Federal Association of Sheltered Workshops (BAG WfbM), this remarkable day of action gives employees from different companies and industries the chance to take on a new perspective by swapping jobs with people with disabilities. This also gives people with disabilities the chance to experience different careers and exciting fields of work. Among them are Lydia Hahn and Jan Siegert, employees in the workshops of the Lebenshilfe association who became ECOCOOL team members for a day.
“A fantastic project,” says Dr Florian Siedenburg, ECOCOOL’s managing director. “Our employees get more than just a glimpse at other workflows and operations; they also get the valuable experience of meeting people with disabilities. A rewarding day for everyone involved!”
In addition to protecting the environment and conserving resources, the management at ECOCOOL count social and ethical values among the most important pillars of the company’s philosophy. ECOCOOL’s close, years-long relationship to Lebenshilfe reflects this. Lebenshilfe Bremerhaven is a non-profit parents’ association dedicated to helping people with learning disabilities by providing a wide variety of support offers and services. People with disabilities also have the opportunity to find good employment that lets them participate even more in society, all goals that Dr Florian Siedenburg emphatically supports: “We are delighted whenever our company can contribute to greater inclusion, like by taking part in Schichtwechsel.”
